Ryman Stationery is one of those shops I end up visiting when I need to top up my office supplies. With three locations around Edinburgh, it’s never too much of a trek to pick up pens, notepads, or envelopes when I run low.
A handy thing about Ryman is that most of their stores have a printing corner. I’m not keen on forking out for overpriced printer ink, so being able to get my documents printed at a reasonable price is a plus.
Another reason I shop here is Ryman Rewards. It’s no game-changer, but the discounts do help me save a few quid over time, which is always welcome.
Unfortunately, I’ve had a couple of run-ins with rude staff while shopping here. Hopefully, they’re working on that, because decent customer service makes all the difference.

I picked this one especially for students. WHSmith has six locations across Edinburgh and offers a 10% student discount on everything—whether it’s notebooks, ballpens, or staplers.
If you’re stocking up, they also have financing on orders over £30 through PayPal’s Pay in 3 program, plus free delivery when you hit that amount. Buying in bulk tends to be the way to go if you want to save a bit.
That said, I don’t like that their pricing isn’t always consistent. One store might charge less than another for the exact same item, and their in-store prices don’t always match what’s listed online.

If you’re keen on supporting local, BMG Office Equipment is worth a look. It’s been around since 1979 and is still run by the same family that founded it.
I pick up supplies from them now and then because their selection is pretty diverse. They don’t just carry the usual stationery but also PPE, masks, gloves, and sanitisers. Handy if you’re sorting out workplace safety regulations.
Now, one thing I really appreciate is their eco-aware range. I’m trying to cut down on waste where I can, so I appreciate that they stock recycled paper, eco-friendly packaging, and energy-efficient office equipment.
They also do free delivery, no matter the size of your order, which saves me a trip to the shop.
However, they don’t always have everything in stock, so sometimes you need to phone ahead to check if a product is actually available.

Discounted Office Supplies does exactly what the name suggests—provides office essentials at solid prices. What makes them stand out, though, is that beyond the usual stationery, they also offer embroidered workwear and PPE, which is handy for businesses needing safety gear.
On top of that, they’ve got a price challenge guarantee. If you find the same product cheaper elsewhere, they’ll match it.
Another thing I appreciate is their free next-day delivery across Edinburgh, and if you’re lucky, they might even manage same-day delivery. That depends on their workload, though.
If there’s one downside, though, it’s their location. They’re way up on the northern outskirts of the city, so if you prefer popping into a shop rather than ordering online, it might be a bit of a trek.

Another shop I tend to visit is The Works, mostly because there are 15 locations around Edinburgh, so there’s almost always one nearby. They do a decent job of keeping the shelves stocked with office essentials like pens, folders, and notebooks.
When I don’t have time to browse, their Click and Collect service is a lifesaver. It’s free for orders over £20, so I just order online and pick it up at whichever shop is closest to my route.
And if I can’t be bothered heading out, they offer free next-day delivery on orders over £30, which makes things even easier.
Another thing I appreciate is their regular deals and discounts. There’s always something on offer, so I end up saving a few pence here and there.
That said, it’s a bit frustrating that they don’t always keep certain products in stock.
