Meanwhile, 8-seater passenger vans average around £145 to £160 per day, while campervans are roughly £50 to over £170 per day, depending on size, amenities, season, and how many people they sleep.

I went with Arnold Clark Car & Van Rental when I needed a reliable transit van for my move across Edinburgh. They had everything from small vans to big Lutons, so picking the right size was straightforward.
There was unlimited mileage on most rentals, and the pricing was fair. I was glad for the clear breakdown of insurance options, and appreciated being able to add extra cover for peace of mind.
Thanks to their multiple Edinburgh branches and flexible hours, pickup and return were easy. I dropped off mine after-hours without a hitch, which was a lifesaver after the exhausting move.
I like its quick and efficient online booking, with a transparent age policy (must be over 23 with a year’s licence). Customer service was also helpful, and the van itself was spotless and well-maintained.
However, they’re not the cheapest option in town, especially if you book at the last minute. Young drivers under 25 also face higher fees, which can make it even pricier.

The people at Arnold Clark fixed all of our concerns
Our 1st time out of the USA, we were dreading the car rental experience, driving on the wrong side of the road, roundabouts, single-track roads and a strong likelihood of a manual/stick vehicle. But the people at Arnold Clark fixed all of our concerns! We were provided an automatic Mercedes SUV, which Heather at the Seafield location thoroughly looked over with us. Healther was a godsend! She also explained all the rules of the road, as well as great tips. Then, to top it all off, we returned the car in Glasgow South Street, and George was so wonderful and helpful. He also helped us with our bags and made sure we caught the next Arnold Clark shuttle to our hotel.

My mate swore by Enterprise Car & Van Hire when he needed a Luton for shifting flats. I went to help him move and saw that they had plenty of options, from small transits for light loads to big vans for serious hauls.
The mileage limits were clearly spelt out, so pricing was uncomplicated. Adding insurance was easy for my friend, though the extras can stack up if you’re not careful.
He chose a branch near the city centre, so pickup was simple enough, and they didn’t fuss when we returned after hours. The one-way hire was a bonus, as he didn’t fancy driving back into Edinburgh traffic.
As for the van itself, it was clean, sturdy, and ready to go. There were no hidden catches as far as we could tell when my mate booked online, too.
Do note that rates can climb quickly if you’re under 25, and deposits can be on the steep side. Weekends tend to book out fast, as well, so leaving it late isn’t a great idea.

Competitively priced, and the vehicle is in new condition
Hired a van here to move house and can’t fault the rental. Competitively priced and a vehicle in new condition, a very clean ply-lined Transit van. The staff were lovely and very helpful in explaining everything. At both pick up and drop off, they were very busy which did lead to a wait, so leave plenty of time. A very useful reminder text service that lets you extend your rental very easily. If it glitches, try logging into your Enterprise account first. Would use these guys again for van or car rental.

When my sister was off to University, she had a mountain of boxes to shift. I sorted her with a van through Easihire Edinburgh; otherwise, it would have taken weeks to get her fully settled.
Good thing there were plenty of van choices, from nippy little Transits to chunky Lutons, which made it easier to match the load. There were no mileage surprises, with fair costing on longer bookings.
Insurance options were laid out clearly, so we only added what made sense. We had an easy time collecting the van and dropping it off, thanks to the flexible options (plus, the branch wasn’t inaccessible).
The van did its job without fuss (unlike my whiny sister): it was clean, reliable, and more than up for the task. There were no hiccups, either, as age rules were explained clearly.
That said, Easihire doesn’t have the same spread of locations as the bigger firms, so slots go fast. Plus, weekend rentals cost noticeably more than midweek ones.

We took a campervan from Alba Campers for a family trip up north, and it was exactly what we needed! They had smaller vans for couples and larger motorhomes that could fit the whole clan comfortably.
We were happy that insurance came in tiers, as we were able to pick one that matched our budget. The mileage limits were also generous enough that we didn’t have to worry about exploring further afield.
During the handover, all the bits we’d need on the road were clearly explained, and the pickup was a smooth process. As for returning, it was easy as well, thanks to the flexible drop-off times.
The vehicle came complete with basics for cooking and sleeping, and was spotless and well-maintained. We got the Rooftent Automatic Campervan option, which gave us enough room for two adults and 2 kids, with a little extra space for gear.
The issue I see is that rates can climb quickly in peak camping season (late June through August), especially for larger vans. Moreover, it’s primarily a campervan hire, so rentals for moving and other needs aren’t the focus of this company.

I loved this campervan for my weekend trip
I loved this campervan for my weekend trip to the Cairngorms for an ultramarathon run. It had everything I needed, and yet it was a very simple setup. Very comfortable and easy to drive.
