The 5 Best Cat Boardings in Edinburgh Trusted by a Cat Lover (aka Me!)
I’m a certified cat lover, and although I love all animals, I particularly love my cats. Most of my family members and friends also have cats, and I sometimes cat sit for them when they need to go out for a trip.
However, cat sitting isn’t always possible. That’s why I turn to cat boarding places to make sure my cats are safe, cosy, and cared for while I’m away.
I’ve trusted many of them and even recommended a few to my friends and family. If you’re searching for a cat boarding place in Edinburgh, here are my top recommendations, both from personal experience and recos from friends!
How much does cat boarding in Edinburgh cost?
Cat boarding in Edinburgh costs between £25 and £35 per cat, per night.
Rates may vary depending on the number of cats you will board and any extra service you may avail such as medicine administration and vet services during their stay.
1. Catseye Cattery

Address: 19 Boggs Holdings, Tranent
Phone: +441875341090
Business hours: Monday to Saturday, 11:00 am to 3:00 pm
If you’re looking for a luxury cattery near the city, Catseye Cattery is a fantastic choice. It’s a luxury retreat for cats, run by a team who genuinely care. I left my cats here while I went on a hen do and was impressed.
Tucked away in a lovely garden, the cattery has both indoor and semi-outdoor spaces. The semi-outdoor area has tall windows for fresh air, while the indoor section is packed with toys.
There’s even a dedicated space for elderly cats and kittens needing extra care.
Each room comes with a cosy cat bed, plenty of natural light, and play areas. Litter trays are conveniently placed, and rooms can house up to four cats from the same family.
Luxury comes at a price, though, starting at £32 a night. I paid for 5 nights because they had a minimum 5-night stay.
If you’re after short-term boarding, this might not be for you, but for longer stays, it’s brilliant!
The perfect find
“Catseye Cattery has been the perfect find, our kitty has stayed a few times now. She seems to enjoy the experience and we have booked her in again for our next holiday with the peace of mind that she will be well taken care of! Many thanks to Michael and the team!”

Address: 164a Woodhall Rd, Juniper Green
Phone: +447936744594
Business hours: Monday to Saturday, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm
When I needed a spot for my cat while I was away, I wasn’t after just any cattery. I wanted somewhere cosy, safe, and a wee bit fancy, and Colinton Cattery pretty much ticked all the boxes for me.
Each cat-only room is individually heated (a big plus in chilly months), well-ventilated, and spacious enough for cats to stretch out and snooze. The staff are brilliant and are genuinely caring and experienced, which makes all the difference for a cat mom.
There’s also a vet connection for extra peace of mind.
A heads up: rates start at £30 per cat, per night, with a 3-day minimum stay. You have to pay the same rate even if you board for less than the minimum.
They also don’t cater to raw food diets. But if you want your moggie to be sung in a heated chalet while you’re off on your travels, this place is well worth it!
Fabulous and caring team
“Our much loved elderly cat spent 9 nights at Colinton Cattery very recently and I cannot recommend the care and service highly enough. Milly was warm, well fed and cared for by the fabulous team employed there. We had regular photos and updates throughout her stay which was incredibly reassuring. ”

Clean, bright, and spacious pods
“I cannot recommend Colinton Cattery highly enough. The pods are clean, bright and spacious; the staff are kind, dedicated and knowledgeable and the communication with anxious pet owners like myself far exceeded my expectations. I received daily updates and photos whilst my cats were boarding with Colinton Cattery which settled my anxieties and assured me that my cats were safe and loved. The team is absolutely fantastic, I wouldn’t choose anywhere else. Thank you, as always Colinton Cattery. ”

“We have been taking Coco to Meadowhill since we adopted her, which is eight years. She is really happy there and we do not have any complaints. She is due to go back in November. We would not put her anywhere else when we are away. Extremely pleased with the service provided. I have attached a couple of photos. ”

Friendly and welcoming staff
“I have been taking my two cats to Meadowhill for the past three years and can honestly say it is the best cattery they have stayed at. The staff are friendly, welcoming, very cat-loving and happy to do whatever is requested to make your pet’s stay as happy and stress-free as possible. The individual kennels are quite spacious, spotlessly clean and tidy and the situation of the kennels is ideal too – in a quiet rural setting surrounded by fields and trees. I wholeheartedly recommend it. ”

4. Bucklyvie Cottage Cattery

Address: Fordell, Cowdenbeath
Phone: +441383513690
Business hours: Monday to Sunday, 9:30 am to 3:30 pm
I first heard about Bucklyvie Cattery from a friend after she boarded her cat there for a month. She had a great experience and spoke highly of them.
She liked the friendly staff, who noted her cat’s needs, gave a tour, and outlined costs for a month-long stay.
The cattery has well-ventilated, spacious rooms, plus a play den with a scratch area. If your cat falls ill, there’s an isolation unit and a vet on call. It’s also reassuring that they’re approved by the Feline Advisory Bureau and licensed by Fife Council.
For older cats, heated mats are available to keep them cosy on chilly days, though extras like these can add up if you’re on a budget. Long-term stays may come with discounts, so it’s worth asking.
The location is a bit of a drive, but the setting is stunning.
A team that cares for your cats like their own
“My wife and I always send our two cats to Bucklyvie Cottage Cattery for kitty holiday camp when we are off on our own adventures around the world. Maureen and her staff are fantastic and take excellent care of our adored pets. Over the past 13 years our cats have been well looked after on more than 15 separate occasions by the friendly, caring folks at Bucklyvie. The runs are spotlessly clean and airy and have nice cosy sleeping areas with heating for the Wintry months. One of our cats has hyperthyroidism and liver problems, and the staff at Bucklyvie take care of all the medication that is needed while we are away. Our cats always return from Bucklyvie looking happy, healthy and stress-free. Bucklyvie Cottage gets a perfect score in my book. I would heartily recommend the cattery to anyone who wants complete peace of mind when it comes to care and attention for your pets while you are away.”

One of the best things about Ingliston Cattery and Kennels is its location: right next to Edinburgh Airport. If you’re heading off on holiday, there’s no need to take a detour just to drop off or pick up your moggie. It’s a proper time-saver.
Their heated chalets keep cats cosy whether they’re serial nappers or outdoor lovers. If you have multiple moggies, they can bunk together too!
